Mosquitoes of genus Aedes, are vectors, or transmitters, of infectious disease. One of the traditional method to control the mosquitos’ larvae is Temephos or Abate which can cause highly polluted on the water body with the higher recommendation dose (2-5 g/m2). Thus, this research aims to produce Eggicide from plants which are Balm mint leaf and Morning glory stem to control the mosquito population at the egg stage along with Water Quality Improvement. The result shown that Eggicide powder inhibit the mosquito’s eggshell decay, embryolysis stage, remove Carbamate insecticide in water up to 92 % as well as user friendly.
This is how I came up with the idea for this project:Aedes aegypti are widespread in SuphanBuri province that carries dengue, chikungunya and zika virus. Traditional method to control the mosquitos’ larvae is Abate which polluted on the water. This research aims to produce eggicide from plants to control the mosquito population at the egg stage along with water quality improvement.
