Hi, my name is Yuquan Zhou from The Kingston Academy. As an environmentalist and a part of school eco-team, I want to use my passion for sciences to contribute to solving the environmental and social challenges (such as drinkable water scarcity) in the world. I would like to study Natural Science in university and use my research in the future to help society to develop more advanced and useful technologies to improve people’s living standards to alleviate sufferings caused by humanitarian and natural crises.
Tell us what the water concern in your country is!Water pollution has always been a significant challenges to the UK due to industrial wastes. The harmful microbes and heavy metals can damage the ecosystem as well as the health of UK citizens. An increased population and risks of flooding have posed further pressures on the water treatment systems.
This is what I think is one of the solutions for a sustainable future:I believe more investments would be needed to further enhance the development of water industry with greater innovation and adaptability. As a HIC, the UK should also realise its responsibility in scientific research to assist the less privileged regions to tackle their water issues such as potable water scarcity.
