Nishita Sinha

I’m currently a high school senior from New Jersey. After seeing the dangerous implications of open defecation firsthand in my ancestral village in Northern India, I became passionate about helping to solve the water crisis. I love the hands-on exploration research because of the opportunities it provides me with to learn something new. From my own work and from talking to other researchers, I’ve learned a lot in subjects across the sciences and humanities. Research has shown me that despite your experience or skill level, if you have the motivation to solve a problem and a willingness to learn, you can do anything. I’m also very interested in music. Since I was young, I’ve enjoyed playing both classical and jazz piano, and I frequently perform in and attend concerts. I am also a competitive swimmer and golfer and I enjoy rock climbing.
