Tell us what the water concern in your country is!We live in a country where the water-related problems depend a lot on the place where you live. In the south of Spain they have many problems because of the dry weather and the absenceof rain, however, in the north of Spain it rains very often, so our concern it's very much different. Because of this we have a lot of reservoirs and sewage treatment plants, but lately this kind of infrastructures are having a lot of problems due to the clogging of wet wipes. Therefore we have thought about possible solutions to degrade this compounds, finding an ecological way to do it.
From where comes your interest in water? Our city, Ourense, is called the city of the water because we have natural springs of hot water that come out to the river from the inner earth . We have many health resorts in all of the region, so we are in contac with water. Eventhough we are awere of the importance of the water (this is why we have one of the best sewage treatment plant of Europe), we also have problems. In our city and in our culture, water has a lot of meaning. Our ancestors thought that water carried the power of God, so we have a lot of respect for water and we work every day to improve the ways to keep it clean and to preserve its quality.
This is what I think is one of the solutions for a sustainable future:Our proyect, is not only a solution for a local problems, wet wipes are considered one of the major problems all over the world and Governments spend a lot of money in cleaning and treating this residues. Our work represents an ecologic way to degrade them, saving milllons of dollars and improving the "health" of our water. Also, this can eliminate or decrease the problem of microplastics that we have in our oceans, derived from this kind of products.
