I’m Lucas Timmerman and live in the Netherlands. I live in an area called Rivierenland which translates as River-Land. It’s an area between the main branches of the Rhine river, the most important inland waterway in Europe.
Tell us what the water concern in your country is!The water quality in our country has increased over the past ten years to a decent level. Our main concern right now is plastic pollution, mainly in our bigger waterways. These waterways are the final spot where we can remove the plastics ( brought along from all over Europe) before they enter the sea. The other concerns lie in the further, with more droughts and a rising sea level.
From where comes your interest in water? As being said, I live in an area with a lot of water. As a kid you could almost every day find me at the waterside fishing, catching amphibians, watching birds and of course a lot of swimming. My love for water never disappeared, now I'm a member of an underwater club with which I dive and play underwater hockey.
