Jiung Nam

Student: Seoul International School

Hi, my name is Jiung/Joshua Nam. I’m currently a rising senior in Seoul International School, a school in South Korea.

Tell us what the water concern in your country is!

Years of industrialization, urban development, and population growth in Korea has led to a situation where we are producing massive amounts of wastewater every day. Within this wastewater are harmful metal particles, which cause environmental destruction and create health concerns. The current method of filtering wastewater, which uses a precipitate to form sewage sludge, causes environmental harm by having the sludge produce harmful dust and be dumped into landfills/the ocean. We wanted to come up with a more environmentally friendly method of filtering metal particles out of our wastewater.
