Hello, my name is Andrés López. I am 17 years old and I was born in Ibarra but currently I live in Quito. I study at the Eugenio Espejo Municipal High School. In my free time I like to play the violin, read, and gardening.
My country, Ecuador, has a bio-diverse environment which inspired me to investigate the importance of nature for human beings.
Tell us what the water concern in your country is!In Ecuador only 15% of the wastewater is treated. It is worth mentioning that most of these come from urban areas. Wastewater in the Imbabura province does not receive adequate treatment. On the slopes of the Lake San Pablo basin, the local indigenous perform various rituals; Unfortunately, due to the quality of the water it is not suitable for direct contact or consumption
This is what I think is one of the solutions for a sustainable future:The constructed wetlands emerge as an attractive alternative for rural areas due to the minimal use of external energy, it is low investment and maintenance costs, and environmentally friendly due to it is lack or low generation of sludge.
